Division Descriptions

Local Rules are re-evaluated on an annual basis. Detailed rules for Baseball and Softball are posted in the side bar as soon as they have been approved by the CRLL Board of Directors.

Below is a brief description of the CRLL Divisions. Please note that division availability, the number of teams and rosters sizes are based on overall sign-ups. Little League strives to group players of similar ages in the same division outside of other extenuating circumstances. 

 

T-BALL (Baseball and Softball)

  • Typical age range: 4-6years
  • T-Ball serves as an introduction to baseball with a focus on fun and learning the basics. 

Spring BASEBALL DIVISIONS

A Division

  • Typical age range: 7 - 8 years
  • CRLL's "coach pitch" division, with players assuming all defensive positions and the coaches providing the pitching. 
  • Players who are league age 7 or 8 who have not previously played baseball will automatically be assigned to this division. 
  • Players league age 6 may be considered for this division if they previously played t-ball and are selected to a team during the draft. 

AA Division

  • Typical age range: 8 - 10 years
  • AA is the first "100% kid pitch" division in CRLL.
  • Players  "league age" 7 are eligible to play in this division if they attend player assessments and are drafted to a team.

AAA Division

  • Typical age range: 10 - 11 years
  • AAA is purely a "kid pitch" division.
  • Traditional baseball rules are used for AAA games, with a few local rules that govern batting order and playing time for players in the field.
  • Players who are league age 9 who attend assessments and are selected during the draft may play in this division. 

Major Division

  • Typical age range: 10-12 years
  • Major is purely a "kid pitch" division. Traditional baseball rules are used for Major games, with a few local rules that govern batting order and playing time for players in the field.
  • All 12 year olds must play Major unless a waiver is obtained from the District.
  • Players who are league age 10 who attend assessments and are selected during the draft may play in this division. 

Intermediate (50/70)

  • Age range 12 and 13 year olds
  • This division uses a 70 foot base path and pitching distance of 50 feet.  

Junior Division

  • Age Range: 13 and 14 year olds
  • This division  is the first year for players to use the "big diamond;" 90 foot bases and pitching from 60'6". Teams play other Junior teams within our district throughout the season.


Spring SOFTBALL DIVISIONS

Farm  

  •  This is a “Coach Pitch” instructional division with no official umpires.  Managers/coaches collaborate on game logistics under the Little League rules and local rules to ensure player development, safety, and fun.
  • Typical age range: 6 - 7 years (6 year olds must have completed one year of Tee Ball).
  • All players on the roster play in the field each inning and continuous batting order applies.
  • There are no strikeouts or walks. Batters put the ball in play by coach pitch or a tee.

Minors (aka 10U)

  •  This is a “Player Pitch” division with official umpires and scorekeeping.
  • Typical age range: 8-10 years (8 year olds with no baseball/softball experience may be required to play one year of Farm).
  •  Defensive positions limited to 9 players and continuous batting order applies.

Majors (aka 12 U)

  • Typical age range is 10 -12 years
  • Little League Softball rules are used for Major games, with a few local rules for interleague play.
  • Continuous Batting Order applies.

Juniors (aka 14 U)

  • Typical age range is 13-14
  • Little League Softball rules apply, with a few local rules for interleague play.
