What to Expect at Player Assessments
WHY A PLAYER ASSESSMENT?
The purpose of player assessments is to evaluate players so that
- Children are selected into an appropriate level of play, and
- CRLL can best maintain the safety of all players.
We strive to have children with their peers and play among children with similar ability. Managers at each level assess the children and ultimately have discretion for selecting players onto their teams.
PLAYER ASSESSMENT PROCESS
For both baseball and softball, each player will have the opportunity to throw, catch (infield and outfield), run, and hit. The format will be slightly different this year, and will include a warm-up. Please arrive about 15 minutes prior to your assessment time to check in.
WHO PARTICIPATES IN PLAYER ASSESSMENTS?
- BASEBALL players League 8 and older must attend one of our player assessment dates.
- BASEBALL players who are League Age 7 must attend one player assessment date date in order to play in a “kid pitch” division.
- If a baseball player league age 7 does not attend a player assessment, he or she will be placed in the A division.
- BASEBALL players who are League Age 6 or younger do not go to player assessments, and will not play in a kid pitch division.
- SOFTBALL players League Age 7 and up must attend a player assessment.
- If a Softball player is League Age 6, and they have already played a year of Tball, they can be evaluated for placement on a Softball Farm team.
- Softball players League Age 5 and younger will play Tball.
